The Resort at Red Hawk

Two strikingly different golf challenges await players at The Resort at Red Hawk. Readers of the Reno-Gazette Journal and Nevada Magazine named the Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Lakes Course as the best daily fee golf experience in northern Nevada. This 7,140 yard course employs natural lakes murmuring springs, mature cottonwood trees and more than 100 bunkers to create one of northern Nevada’s must plays.

Three-time U.S. Open winner Hale Irwin shaped the Hills Course, which is the centerpiece of The Private Club at Red Hawk, an all-inclusive club with unrivaled amenities. The Hills Course is a Scottish links-style layout with small greens, awesome views, dramatic elevation changes and deep European-style bunkers.Irwin has also designed a one-of-a-kind, 18-hole putting course that will truly amaze any golfer. This putting masterpiece is a combination of tremendous flowers, native plants and 36,000 square feet of the best A-4 bent grass surfaces in the area.

The award-winning Golf Shop is also home to the Red Hawk Golf Academy and Fitting Center, which makes it the most complete golf shop around.

Year-after-year tournament hosts and guests are amazed at the completeness of Red Hawk Golf Club’s staff and tournament operations. All special events and tournament needs can be met by first calling (775) 626-6000.

Lakes Course is fun and challenging but you must know carry distances on some of the risk/reward holes in order to intelligently challenge the hazards. Large, fast greens.

Hill Course is spectacular with great elevation changes. Lots of fun tee shots that can reward long, well shaped tee shots but catch wayward shots. Don't forget the extra carry due to elevation above sea level. Try to stay below the hole on approaches for best shot at making putts. This course is a "must play" in Reno.

I recently played the Lake course and was impressed with the layout and condition of most of the course. I thought the greens were marked up a bit too much for a course of this quality.

Nice golf course, good shape and well maintained. The only problem is i felt i was in Florida. It's a typical flat Florida country club layout. Nothing wrong with it, but if you're from Florida and looking for something different pass on this one.
