Whitehawk Ranch Golf Club

Rated one of the top 20 courses in California by Golf Digest, Whitehawk Ranch Golf Club is a championship experience set in the scenic, natural splendor of the High Sierra’s Mohawk Valley — just a short drive from both Lake Tahoe and Reno. The Dick Bailey-designed course is sculpted into this beautiful terrain where streams meander through pines, cedars and quaking aspens to create ponds and waterfalls. Take a virtual tour of the golf course at www.golfwhitehawk.com.

Facilities

Full pro shop, first class practice facility with driving range, chipping and putting green and full snack bar. One and two bedroom cabins available at the Lodge at Whitehawk Ranch for stay and play packages – call 877-945-6343. Open April to November.

Signature Hole

Although reachable in two shots under ideal conditions, Whitehawk’s signature 558-yard 18th hole is best played as a true three shot par 5. Keeping the ball in play off the tee sets-up a straight-forward second shot leaving less than 100 yards to the double-tiered green.

Played from the Three Hawk tees which was 6445 yds long. Because of recent rain, some fairways were very soft so played longer than the listed yardage. The day we played the weather was a bit on the cool side. Very peacefull setting which was just my son and his friends from California wanted. For me this course reminded Black Butte Ranch in Sisters, Or. Because we were not allowed to take cart on to the course, it took longer to play. This course is very nice and plays tough from the back tees. I didn't play well but enjoyed playing very much. The pro shop staff were just wonderful. We bought some clothes because we got some really good discount. Would like to return there again and to see if I can play better than I did.

What a great layout. I have played this course 6 times over the last 3 years and will continue each time I am in Tahoe. It is always in great shape and a fair course for all levels of play. Great views from all the holes. The staff is always helpfull and I would recommend having your next tournament or golf outing at Whitehawk Ranch.

One of my favorites. Everything you would want in a golf course. A very scenic and strong layout with puttable but challenging greens. Real grass practice range, putting green and chipping area. From the back tees, some holes demand shaped shots. Approach shot club selection must take altitude above the green and above sea level into account. Staying below the hole will give you the best chance to make putts. The 1st few holes on each side are routed through the open valley and then you enter the forest with river beds, huge pine trees and hillside terrain coming into play. Played 54 holes on the All Day Rate! Just an awesome place to play and enjoy the scenery.

Great layout. The tee shot sets up everything here. The Par 5's are reachable in 2 shots if tee shot is positioned on the correct side of the fairway. For instance, on the Par 5's that dogleg left with hillside on left, stay on right side of fairway near tree line to see the flagstick. 18th hole requires a straight or slight fade tee shot then a shaped 2nd shot if going for it in 2 due to the stand of Pines that split the hole from 200-120 yds from green. Another great Risk-Reward hole! A must play in the area.

A beautiful layout in a valley between mountains. Let's you play every shot in your bag.Left to right, right to left, doglegs, straight, it has it all. Not too long. Greens are a challenge. Stay below the hole. Nice range and putting green. Don't miss the fairway, if you do it's gone. Lots of meadowy tall grass.
